๐Congratulations to @StoryProtocol on its 3.5-year anniversary!
Among all the achievements Story has made, the one that impressed me the most was the launch of @psdnai.
In AI, data is the most important element, yet there are very few platforms that actually handle it properly. Poseidon takes the lead in this critical area of data, addressing real-world challenges such as copyright, provenance tracking, and rewards.
I was especially inspired by the moment when @storysylee spoke about Poseidon on Bloomberg Tech Live. It was such a powerful scene that I even turned it into the meme.
As an OG, I am truly excited for Poseidonโs next chapter within story eco and will continue to support it wholeheartedly.
IP is inevitable !

Although we can't name it specifically, we are announcing the news for the first time in a long time, with the robotics division of the company, which is best known for its electric vehicles around the world, as well as the company that creates the world's most advanced audio-generative AI models, and the most advanced companies in the field of AI semiconductors, a market structure has been established for Story Protocol's subsidiaries to supply data for Real World IP.
Luckily, when the subsidiary was just launched, Meta acquired Scale AI for about 41 trillion trillion dollars, shaking the market game significantly, and as a result, real opportunities are opening up too quickly than expected.
The structure we are creating is completely different from the traditional way of distributing data.
This is the future we are envisioning.
Anyone, anywhere in the world, can contribute their POV video, biometric audio, multilingual voices, and sensor-based log data, which is collected, cleaned, labeled, curated, and immediately rewarded with stablecoins or cryptocurrencies according to AI workflows. All data is recorded on the Story blockchain, an immutable global ledger, and each dataset is converted into an on-chain IP asset.
Just as users in the Philippines earned cryptocurrency through the game Axie Infinity in the past, there will be an era in the future when millions of people around the world will directly earn money by contributing real-world data. On one side, individuals provide data autonomously, and on the other side, companies like Tesla pay stablecoins for this data and legally obtain licenses.
I once laughed and said in an interview with Bloomberg that if companies like Scale AI are like low-paying data exploitation factories where companies in developing countries put a lot of people in a small room and make them click and draw boxes for a few dollars an hour, then the structure we are building is a much fairer and better alternative to that. A structure in which anyone can contribute autonomously, and their contributions are registered as IP on-chain, and they can be rewarded transparently. Rather than simply doing labeling work, we want to create a new system that ensures ownership, participation, and economic upside to the data itself.
In fact, I have been busy announcing my news for the past year. In February, Story Protocol's $IP token was listed on the world's leading exchanges, including Coinbase, and apparently recorded a market capitalization of about 6 to 7 trillion won on a fully diluted basis, but the weight of such a number was beyond imagination. Unlike stocks, tokens are traded 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so we had to face the reaction of the market and the community in real time at every moment, and for my team and me, it was an ecosystem management and real-time strategy operation. While I was frantically adapting, I reduced my relationships a lot and spent most of my time focusing on work.
Story has started with the concept of "tokenizing intellectual property (IP)" and has created a new IP-based infrastructure that allows creators to take ownership and profits directly. Numerous contents from various fields such as music, fiction, art, and fashion have been tokenized through our platform, and experiments are becoming a reality in which music sources such as BLACKPINK and Justin Bieber, as well as brands such as Crocs and Smiley, create secondary creations with fans through AI remixing.
However, as we were creating content-based IP infrastructure, we began to receive strong signals from a completely new direction. It was the question, "Isn't the data of the real world also IP?" In fact, in recent months, many AI teams have started contacting us saying they are looking for "structured datasets with clear permissions, traceability, and royalty distribution."
Through these conversations, one thing became clear.
The real bottleneck in AI is not the GPU or the model, but the high-quality, real-world data with the IP organized.
Text and image-based models have already leveled off to some extent, and the next wave is moving to 'AI that works in the physical world', that is, physical AI such as robots, autonomous driving, healthcare, and smart devices. These models can no longer learn from data scraped from the internet. Instead, they need non-fungible data collected in the real world, such as specific sensor logs, POV camera footage, live audio, and multilingual voices.
Meta's CTO Andrew Bosworth had this to say:
"No matter how much media content is spread on the Internet,
AI cannot understand the friction that humans feel when picking up a coffee cup and the intuition of the material."
This kind of data cannot be found on the web, nor can it be created.
And this is the extension of IP that Story sees.
We're expanding the infrastructure we've built for art, music, and fiction over the past few years to real-world data.
And the first project is Poseidon AI.
Poseidon is a new protocol incubated by Story Protocol and received an initial investment of $15 million from a16z, a full-stack data infrastructure that collects, refines, labels, registers real-world data as IP on-chain, and ultimately enables commercial licensing.
By clearly defining what data AI teams want, anyone can contribute data through mobile phones, wearables, dashcams, hospitals, and IoT devices, no matter where they are in the world. The data is automatically labeled, anonymized, registered on the Story blockchain, and distributed like NFTs per dataset or automatically licensed through smart contracts. Contributors are rewarded immediately, and users can use datasets with legal and technical stability.
The co-designer of all of this is Sandeep Chinchali @SPChinchali, co-founder of Poseidon, Chief Scientist, and Chief AI Officer of Story. He received his Ph.D. in Distributed AI Systems from Stanford, worked as a NASA researcher, an early engineer at a startup acquired by VMware, and is now a professor at UT Austin. Above all, he is also the one who has been researching "a structure that collects data in the real world and rewards people fairly" for the past 10 years, also known as Data Dividend.
Sandeep says:
"The next leap in AI is not from more GPUs, but from better data."
The most important IP in the future is not Model Architecture, nor is it AI chip design. The most valuable IP is your data.
Poseidon is the first data IP infrastructure to make this happen.
And all of this is only possible on top of the programmable, traceable, and monetizable IP infrastructure that Story has built over the years.
Following content IP, we are now preparing to define and utilize real data as IP on-chain.
In the future, I will share these recent situations a little more often.
