I just love how the L2 “stacks” are evolving, built on strong rollups as the foundation for independent, flexible enterprise L2 deployments, or as tooling that enables fast onboarding and integration of web2 products into the on-chain economy.
For example: what Arbitrum is doing with Robinhood, what Optimism is doing with Base and Kraken, what ZKSync is doing with Deutsche Bank and UBS, and what Immutable is doing with Ubisoft.
I think there’s a massive market for this. These rollup stacks can give institutions proximity to Ethereum while still providing maximum flexibility to build their own solutions.
Yes, some might use altDA, but I think there’s a strong case that most of these L2s will eventually migrate to Ethereum DA once they’re confident enough in Ethereum’s scalability going forward or need the interop, which will only get better from here.
Generalized rollups and L2s are mostly a race to the bottom, with very few winners, as we already saw with L1s.
That’s why focusing on infrastructure and tooling specialized for major web2 players - who will bring their own ecosystems and attention - is the way we can onboard hundreds of millions of users.
It’s also how most of these excellent stacks make any sense and can grow independently from one another.
There's plenty of big fish in that pond.
